About
Hello! My name is Craig, and I am the founder of
Bright Hounds Dog Training.
How it all began…
Unfortunately, like many other kids, I had a pretty rough childhood,
and grew up in a household where our family Labrador was badly
mistreated by one particular adult family member. This experience
stayed with me, and throughout my previous career as a
Structural Designer I always felt like I had a different calling in life,
but never knew exactly what that was.
My brother had already started training dogs himself, and now
runs a very successful dog training business in Cambridgeshire.
One afternoon at a family BBQ, I had a long conversation with
my brother, and it became apparent that training dogs was the
right path for me, but I had no idea how to get started!
He pointed me in the direction of the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers (IMDT) and the relevant courses I should take to kickstart my journey into the world of dog training.

Over the following 3 years, still working as a Structural Designer, I went on many dog training and behavioural courses, both practical and classroom led, to better understand dogs from a scientific perspective, and how to apply that knowledge to help them flourish in the often challenging human world.

In my spare time I started taking on clients of my own in the Cambridgeshire area, as well as volunteering at dog rescue centres, the knowledge that I gained was invaluable!
Soon enough, I had built up a sufficient client base to quit my job as a Structural Designer and set up my own dog training business...and the rest is history!

In December 2021 I moved to Boston, in Lincolnshire, and I have been servicing the Lincolnshire county since then. I have felt an overwhelming sense of welcome and support since moving to Lincolnshire, and I now feel completely at home. The positive feedback that I have received from clients really makes my job worthwhile.

The ‘Bright Hounds’ name was inspired by my rescue greyhound (a 'sight-hound'… get it? Good).
I have since trained / rehabilitated 1000’s of dogs, working with around 25 dogs and their humans each week.
I work with clients in their homes or in their local area to develop strategies for both training and behaviour modification.

I love nothing more than helping clients to better understand their individual dog from an emotional, scientific and breed perspective, explaining why they are behaving in certain ways and how to work with them as a team to change those behaviours, without having to resort to physical or psychological punishment, which at best only serves to suppress behaviour... and there is always a fallout from this, not to mention the damage that it does to your relationship.
My one wish in life is that all puppies and dogs of any age should be free from outdated and punitive methods in favour of logical, humane and scientifically proven techniques.

Please feel free to get in touch for a chat about your dog and I'd be happy to help.
